In class we'll be focusing on the music for our concert, which is May 11th at 7:30 pm.
In addition, we'll learn the natural minor scales, while continuing to work on the harmonic minors.
We'll have another playing test due on May 1, which will be your final exam playing grade, and your audition for symphonic band. Same format as the one in March, except you can't play the same exercises. I know which ones you played...
A few things to keep in mind looking ahead to the end of this year -
We will all be marching in the Byron Memorial Day Parade in uniform, with music memorized, on May 30th. This includes graduates. The parade will be used for our Disney application, and they need to see us marching in uniform. This increases our chances of being able to march in the parade we want when we go to Disney in 2017. After the parade, everyone is required to turn in their uniform, which will be sent straight to the cleaner, so make sure you can leave without your uniform on. There will be band parents there to help make sure the turn in process is quick and painless.
We will have to start working on that music before the concert, so we really need to make sure all of our concert music is ready to perform by the end of April. If you can't play your stuff, work on it. After the concert we'll focus on the parade, but also on next year's marching music.
I'm excited for the rest of this year, there is some awesome music making happening in the band room!
