- Concert Band students need to submit their scale recordings by 3pm on November 25th.
- Everyone needs to bring their instruments home to practice over Thanksgiving break, so that we can come back and play our concert music better than we are currently playing. After break we only have 4 rehearsals, and no time to fix old mistakes. You should also be working on selling your Avon materials over this break. Details about when the orders are due is on the yellow sheet that you have in your Avon packet.
- Evergreen Ball is December 6th, details about that night will be given to everyone who has volunteered to help.
- On December 9th and 10th, bands will be rehearsing during band class at the middle school in the theater, we will travel by bus, and you will leave your instruments and music there after those rehearsals.
- The concert begins at 7:30 in the middle school theater, on December 10th. Symphonic Band students need to report to the stage at 6:45 for a pre-concert warm-up and rehearsal. Concert Band students should report to the stage at 7:10 ready to perform, which means you arrive early enough to put your instrument together, gather your music and find your seat on the stage by 7:10. Jazz band will not rehearse or warm up separately from the other bands, but will perform between concert and symphonic. All students must dress appropriately for this concert, skirts need to be at the knee or longer when sitting. Ladies may wear dress pants if you can't find a skirt long enough. Gentlemen should wear a shirt and tie (bow ties are ok). Any violation of this dress code will mean that the band will wear marching band uniforms for all future concert performances.
- On December 11th and 12th we will be turning in all of our music from the concert and the marching season, you'll also turn in your flipfolder, and your uniform if you are not going on the Florida trip. Every student needs to turn in all of their music on these days, or you will be charged a music replacement and music sorting fee.
- During the rehearsals on the week of December 15th, we will be preparing for the final and sight-reading. You will need your instruments every day that you are scheduled to come to the band room.
- Avon products need to be picked up on December 18th and delivered by December 20th, so that your customers can have their Christmas presents.
- We are still in need of 1 female and 2 male chaperons for the Florida trip.
- Be in the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment and the right attitude.
Here is a brief summary of what we have going on in the band room between now and winter break:

For the first time since 2002, the football team has reached the quarter-finals in the state playoff series. This is awesome, and it's our privilege to be able to play at another home football game.
So, unfortunately, that means we have to cancel our trip to see the Illini football game this Saturday, I will send your payments home with your kids unless you tell me you'd like it transferred into your Florida account. Saturday details: Band students should report to the band room with layers under and over their uniforms at noon. Students will be allowed to where coats over the uniforms, gloves, warm hats, etc while we are sitting in the bleachers. We'll try to keep our instruments from freezing, and perform halftime in full uniform, and have some hot chocolate in the band room after halftime. Go Tigers!!! More details about Saturday's playoff game - students need to be in the band room at 11:45, with full uniform on. The game starts at 1. We will leave the band room in snake fashion at 12:15. Dress warm, put layers under the uniform.
