1. Please feel free to stop in the band room if you are in the building for conferences, I’ll be in the room unless I’m scheduled for a conference. And, since I scheduled a rehearsal during one of the conference nights, I’ll be in the room starting at 3:30 both days, for anybody who wants to drop by.
2. All 9th, 10th and 11th grade students are to bring 2 dozen homemade cookies for the 5th quarter performance, they should bring them to our rehearsal Thursday night.
3. Thursday’s rehearsal is mandatory, no exceptions, from 7-9 pm. We’ve got 2 old halftime shows to review, plus 1 new one to put together. Encourage your kids to dress warmly, I know they don’t take parent suggestions very often because they think they’re smarter than you, but they will need extra layers and gloves Thursday and Friday night. Both nights are supposed to be beautiful fall evenings, not unseasonably cold or rainy, thank goodness!
4. The first part of Friday night will go as normally scheduled, but after the halftime show (during the 3rd quarter) we will proceed in to the gym for a band picture. Parents are welcome to come in and take a picture of the group too. We will stay inside to keep warm as long as possible, and then during the 4th quarter of the game we’ll go back out and get ready for our performance.
5. The 5th quarter performance is for parents! Please stay. We’ve worked hard, and we know you want to see these shows again. After the show we’ll have cookies and hot chocolate. It’s a great night, fun for the band members and their families.
6. We will know next Monday whether we have a home playoff game on either October 31 or November 1. Usually first round games are played on Friday nights, and it is not very likely that we will have a home game first round, but if we win the first round game, then you can plan on an afternoon home game on Saturday November 8. Again, it’s a lot of “ifs” but we have to plan ahead so we’re ready when we need to be there.
7. We still have room if anyone else wants to go to the Illini football game on November 15th… I’m not ordering tickets though until we know for sure that we won’t have a home football game that weekend! So, there’s still time if you want to go.
8. Florida deposit is due on or before October 31.
Have a great week everyone!
